Student film projects focus on Detroit island's statues and the stories behind them
Students in Prof. Jason Roche's documentary filmmaking class are learning about one of Detroit's most famous landmarks. As part of the winter semester course, Roche assigned his students to do individual documentaries on one of the historic statues located on Belle Isle.

The Titans, Michigan's first Division I lacrosse team, face upstart from Ann Arbor
History will be made Sunday, Feb. 12. The UDM men's lacrosse team will host the Michigan Wolverines at Pontiac's Ultimate Soccer Arena in the first-ever game between two Michigan-based Division I teams. The Wolverines added the sport this past year.
Freshman to be sentenced in February
ANN ARBOR—Detroit Mercy basketball guard P.J. Boutte pled guilty Wednesday, Dec. 21, to possessing a stun gun and being a minor in possession of alcohol. The two counts stem from an Oct. 9 arrest in Ann Arbor. Standing before Judge Archie Brown, Boutte, 20, waived his right to a trial and will be sentenced Wednesday, Feb.
