Stockhausen delivers somber news in final town hall address

Before a crowd of over 100 UDM students and staff, outgoing President Gerard L. Stockhausen, S.J., issued his last town hall address March 30 in the Fountain Lounge, celebrating his successes and emphasizing that the university must continue to grow.

Security tightened at pedestrian gate

Following several burglaries and robberies, the university has tightened access to the McNichols campus.
The changes aim to help ensure the safety of students who live on campus, according to public safety officials.
A card scanner will be in use at the pedestrian gate on the east side of campus (near Calihan Hall).

Greek Week crowns repeat winners

After a week filled with stress, tears, friendship and smiles, Greek Week 2010 has come to an end.
Fraternities and sororities competed last week for the yearlong title of Greek Week Champions.
Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority and Kappa Delta Rho fraternity emerged as the winners.

UDM comes out for gender studies exhibit

Every two years, the Women and Gender Studies Program sponsors a juried art exhibition in the Genevieve Fisk Loranger Art and Architecture Center in the School of Architecture. This year's exhibition, "Gendered Space/s," ran April 6-10.

Summer means vacation from school

We are almost to the end - of the semester, that is.
The birds are chirping and spring has officially sprung in the Motor City.
Whether you commute or live in another location, summer is definitely a time to be cherished and coveted.
Homework assignments, presentations and group projects have consumed our lives for the past eight months, and it's time to put on the flip-flops and bask in the sun of our accomplishment.

Change has been a theme for a while now in the country. It was Barack Obama's entire campaign platform, in fact. Now, change is finally making its way to UDM.
The College of Liberal Arts and Education will need a new dean at the start of the next school year, and the entire university will have a new president in the near future.

As I prepare to leave UDM, I see myself as becoming wiser and more mature thanks in part to my time here. A lot of what I learned was in the classroom and the professors here have been very knowledgeable.

Final exams, end-of-the-semester projects and other activities leave students stressed, but increasingly some are turning to yoga - and instructor Jim Stout - to relieve pent-up tension.
On Wednesdays and Thursdays, UDM offers yoga classes to students who have registered at the Titan Fit Zone, where Stout is one of the instructors.

Titans douse Flames

The women's lacrosse team defeated Liberty University 19-5 in the second half of a men's/women's lacrosse doubleheader Saturday. The game was one of the Titans' most complete victories. Anna Eidem, one of four captains, led Detroit with four goals, as seven players in all put at least one shot home.

Penalties doom Detroit as Gregson scores four

The men's lacrosse team fell 12-9 to Mount St. Mary's in a heated contest Saturday.
The game featured 20 penalties, including 10 in the fourth quarter, and this was where Mount was able to gain an advantage.
Of the 11 man-up opportunities, Mount capitalized on six of them.

Butler's tourney run makes Titans' OT loss sting more

As much as it pains me to say this, I was rooting for Butler to win the national championship, and you should have been, too.
The Dawgs were representing the Horizon League, and, in an indirect way, Detroit. More coverage of the league means more coverage of the Titans, and for a rebuilding program that's a good thing.

Mulroy's long basketball career has fairy tale ending

Brigid Mulroy began her basketball career at UDM watching her teammates. She ended her college career with her teammates-and the rest of the sports world-watching her. Mulroy solidified her spot as the nation's top college three-point shooter, winning the 22nd annual State Farm Slam Dunk and Three-Point Championships in Indianapolis, Ind.

Women's tennis team wins third straight, defeats Milwaukee 4-3
UDM's women's tennis team finished their road trip Sunday morning with a defeat over the Milwaukee Panthers, 4-3, for their third consecutive victory and sixth in their last seven matches.
Carolina Salas Espinosa won her singles match 6-2, 6-2 as the top seed.
