Join us!Job Posting Title2021 Summer Intern - Engineering SummaryAAM is looking for Engineering students to join #TeamAAM at our Metro-Detroit offices, Three Rivers Manufacturing and Bluffton Manufacturing locations. Our intern program is a multifaceted, paid experience. You'll be part of meaningful projects that impact AAM while creating valuable learning experiences.Our Summer Intern Program also offers the following:* Formal Education Opportunities: AAM offers formal education opportunities to support your personal and professional development.* Housing: AAM provides a housing stipend to eligible interns.* Networking: AAM offers a variety of engagement events and networking opportunities throughout the summer.Examples of potential engineering assignments include:* Participate in R&D activities and support such activities for strategic product development initiatives that might give AAM an edge in the global market.* Participate in managing engineering design projects which includes assisting in the design, development and validation process with lead engineer.* Support product benchmarking analysis by disassembling automotive drive train components, weighing and measuring components and coordinating a metallurgical analysis of the components.* Assist with engineering calculations related to the design of automotive drive train components.* Manages time to accomplish results including project planning, cost and timing details.* Obtains knowledge of department and its operations.* Other tasks as assignedRequired Skills and Education* Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering from an accredited university* Minimum 3.0 GPA* Graduation date of December 2021 or later* Available to work at least 40 hours per week* Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Word* Good listening, verbal and written communication skills* Detail oriented, able to multitask and prioritize workload* Able to maintain confidential information* Interested in pursuing a career in the automotive industry* Able to work well in a team* Must be able to work in US without sponsorshipAbout American Axle & ManufacturingFor over 20 years, customers around the world have entrusted AAM to design, engineer, validate and manufacture driveline and metal forming technologies for automotive, commercial and industrial markets.
