Conducts supervised psychological assessments, therapy intakes, and provides substance use and eating disorder assessments. May perform other related tasks that are a part of the agency's operation. Participates in professional training including weekly didactic workshops and professional development. Participate in weekly supervision of clinical work by licensed psychologists and other licensed mental health professionals. This is a 12 month, 40 hour per week, 2000 hour internship.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSConducts triage assessment with students who request counseling servicesProvides individual, group, and couples counseling to studentsProvides crisis intervention to students Provides outreach workshops and lectures to campus communityConducts substance use and eating disorder assessments to determine students appropriateness for treatment at CAPSConducts psychological assessments to studentsMaintains accurate, thorough, and up-to-date clinical documentation via our electronic recordkeeping systemMaintain clinical and non-clinical appointments in our electronic weekly schedule Consults with supervisors and staff as neededActs as a campus resource on psychology and represents Counseling and Psychological Services in the university communityActs as a liaison between client and campus or community resources as neededProvides consultation to staff, faculty, and parents seeking assistance with troubled students or those with serious mental health issues Attends training seminars, professional development, staff meetings and supervision on a weekly basisInteracts with staff and students in a professional and ethical mannerUnique DutiesQualificationsREQUIREDMaster's Degree in Counseling Psychology or Clinical Psychology;Enrollment in an accredited Doctorate in Counseling Psychology orClinical Psychology training program;Approval from Director of Clinical Training to apply for pre-docinternship.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESMust have strong administrative, interpersonal, oral and written skills. Clinical skill in providing crisis counseling; triage and case management; group psychotherapy; individual and couples therapy. Knowledge and skills in evidence-based treatment of mental health concerns and counseling practices and methods. Knowledge of DSM-V diagnostic system, and ability to diagnose mental health disorders. Knowledge of APA ethics code, and ability to practice in an ethical manner. Ability to utilize empirical knowledge to conduct best practices mental health treatment Ability to plan, implement, evaluate, and report therapeutic interventions conducted Knowledge and experience in conducing psychological assessments and providing feedback to clients. Knowledge of and respect for diversity and individual differences. Ability to integrate knowledge of diversity into clinical practice. Ability to communicate effectively in writing and to prepare written and electronic documents. Ability to communicate orally, both in person and by telephone. Ability to travel to meetings, other campuses and counseling sites. Ability to establish rapport with others as a requisite for healthy and therapeutic relationships. Ability to present oneself in an appropriately personable and professional manner to students and staff.
