We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced sailing instructors to join our team this summer on the island of Put-in-Bay. The role of the Sailing Instructor is to teach his or her portion of sailing courses, and to contribute actively to the team and improvement of the Junior Sailing Program and Sail Camp. Our instructors work independently under the direction of our Sailing Director, and shape the program and our sailors. Instructors must work to maintain a safe and positive environment for campers and be enthusiastic about sharing their passion for sailing with the youth ResponsibilitiesMust be available between June 12th and July 20thMaintain a safe and fun environment for campersMonitor campers within your classSupervise and oversee 5-7 ChildrenEnsure safety on the yacht club grounds, docks, and when sailingHelp maintain boats, classrooms, and other equipmentBe a role model to campers and staff in your attitude and behaviorHandle behavioral issues and conflicts between campers appropriatelyBe professional in all job tasks by taking the job seriously, showing up on time, and being ready to workReport all issues to Sailing DirectorHelp develop and teach lesson plans and classroom activitiesSome instructors will travel to and from Race Regattas during the seasonWillingness to perform odd jobs around the club, ranging from cleaning to maintenancePhysical Requirements:Frequent standing, sitting, walking, bending, and twisting of the upper bodyCapable of lifting up to 50lbsAbility to swim with a lifejacket onStrength and endurance are required to maintain the supervision of campersWillingness to endure outdoor weather conditions such as sun, heat, and rainQualifications:At least 15 years oldExperience sailing and skippering dinghies and/or powerboat/chaseboatBe comfortable rigging, sailing, capsizing, and righting a dinghyA love for sailing and sharing your passion with othersAbility to work well with others as a teamFirst Aid and/or Lifeguard certifications (preferred)ASA or US Sailing certifications (preferred)This is a seasonal position with competitive compensation based on experience and on-site housing provided.
