UDM pop-up restaurant gets praise

UDM students got a taste of Middle Eastern food from the Al-Saha restaurant at The Loft recently.

On occasional Thursdays, the restaurant will be staging a pop-up restaurant on campus for a few hours at lunchtime.

The October visit saw students in lines attempting to get their special meals.

Chicken shawarma, Middle Eastern rice and pita bread with garlic sauce were among the dishes served.

Student Mona Hammoud was spotted getting some Al-Saha cuisine, which she said she “couldn't pass up.”

“It’s almost as a good as my grandmother's,” she noted. “Makes me miss home but I’m glad the Titan Dining Services are finally giving us more options – cultural options.”

Eryn Hearns, also a student, was eager to try Middle Eastern food for the first time.

“I didn’t really know they did stuff like this here. It’s cool,” said Hearns.

The next Al-Saha visit is set for Dec. 10.
