Confessions of a 'side-chick'

I was a side-chick, too.

Yes, believe it or not, I, Akilea McKay, the baddest chick at UDM, was a side-chick.

If you read my article elsewhere in this issue, this will make sense. But if you haven’t yet, then go back, read that bad boy and then read my story.

OK, brace yourself.

I was 21 and I’m currently 21 so this is very recent and this fool really tried it.

Now, do I look like a biscuit to you?

Again, do I look like a biscuit to you?

Do I look like a damn french fry?

So, why did this fool try to play me like I was a side order.

He and I talked for about a month before we actually went out and when we finally did go out it was, of course, at night. Typical.

Our conversations would be casual, just trying to get to know each other or whatever.

I asked him what he wanted from me and he said, “I just want to be your friend, sweetheart.”

Guys love using pet names to sweet talk you, especially this guy.

When he said that, I thought, hmm, with winter coming, he wanted a little cuddle buddy for those cold lonely nights.

Now, I’m not even about to flex, I started falling for him. I started getting attached to this man.

We were talking every day, seeing each other if not once then twice a week.

I met some of his family and friends and all the while I’m like, okay, he’s about to make me his girl.

He wasn’t what I typically go for but I liked him so I stuck with him.

Then a couple months ago, we had a falling out.

His alleged girlfriend/baby mama called me using his phone.

I guess she was calling to check me.

She basically said that they had been together for so and so years and they lived together and she was tired of women like me ruining their happy family.

I’m not going to get into all the gritty details of it, but to say the least I was pretty much done with him.

When we did eventually talk, he tried to turn the tables on me and make me feel some type of way because he said I shouldn’t have even said three words to her.

Fast forward to three weeks later, he and I made up because I couldn’t just let him go. It was so hard.

I’ve been involved with this guy for like the past three months.

It’s hard for me to just cut him off. Plus, I didn’t have any back-ups. So he wasn’t going anywhere.

About a week later, he just started acting petty like a little boy and I didn’t have time for that so I fell back on him.

Another two weeks went by and I missed him, so I hit him up and, of course, he answered.

Long story short, he came and he left and that was the last time I’ve seen him.

I’m not sad about it or anything because I was already slowly backing away from him anyway because he was doing a lot of things that I didn’t like. Plus, I knew I could do better and deserved better.

Being a side-chick isn’t the end of the world.

Yes, it hurts but it was a learning experience.

I don’t want to be a side-chick again unless it’s with Chris Brown or Odell Beckham Jr.

That might be OK. Until then, hell no!
