Another school year is nearly in the books, and what a year it has been.
I can’t believe that I’m going to be a senior in just a few months.
But until then, I have a lot to accomplish.
Last-minute assignments and exams are draining me, but thankfully there are only a couple more weeks.
Then the real work will (hopefully) begin.
I’m hoping for my first internship this summer.
Ideally, I’d like to get a full-time internship, but I’m also planning on taking a couple classes.
As much as I’d like a break from school, I know that I’m in the final stretch, and I just need to hammer it all out.
I’ve always taken summer classes to lighten the load during the year, and I always appreciate myself for it later.
But I’ve never had a full-time job while taking classes, so this is definitely going to be a different experience.
I’m excited and nervous for all that is to come, but I’m looking forward to it.
And then there’s next year.
Class of 2017!
It seemed so far away just a couple years ago, and I can’t believe it’s almost here.
I’m really looking forward to it.
I’m going to be the first person in my family to ever graduate from college, and I’m so blessed to be here.
College is such an awesome journey, and I’m so thankful to be doing what I love.
I’m happy I still have another year to enjoy it.
I’ve grown so much in the last three years, and I know that my fourth will be just as great.
Though this year’s goodbyes to friends who are graduating will be some of the toughest yet, I know they are going on to bigger and better things.
Some specific people I have some words for:
- Paige Dykema: You are one of the hardest working people I have ever met, and you deserve every single good thing that comes to you. You are going to accomplish so much, more even than you already have. I can’t wait to see what you do.
- Jack Walsworth: You are such an awesome editor, and I am going to miss you on the VN team. We have had such a great year, and I attribute it to your great leadership. Remember me when you’re the next Anderson Cooper. Congratulations!
- Joe Oster and Karic Jones: The VN will definitely miss your sports expertise. Congrats!
- Brie Wilcox: No matter if you decide to continue your basketball or biology career, I’ll be standing behind you. Thank you for being such an awesome friend, co-worker and documentary subject. Work won’t be the same without you. Congrats, my Brie-skizzle!
- Rosanna Reynolds: You’re graduating, but you’re not going anywhere. See you next year, my dear.
Congratulations to the entire class of 2016, and good luck. Stay in touch.
