The Student Programming Board’s 13th annual Phenomenal Women’s Dinner honored Dr. Kathleen Zimmerman-Oster.
Zimmerman-Oster has made many contributions to the university. She is not only a professor in the psychology department but also serves as director of the industrial/organizational psychology master’s degree program as well as director of the Emerging Leaders Program.
The dinner was held March 31 in the ballroom and more than 100 people attended.
Zimmerman-Oster wasn’t the only woman honored that evening.
Junior Sehie Olivia Koh was presented with the Ashley Grey Legacy Award, a scholarship given to a young woman on campus who exhibits excellence and leadership.
The award was named for Ashley Grey, a former student who helped begin the annual dinner.
Many students and faculty came to show appreciation for Zimmerman-Oster. So did her family, husband David Oster Sr., their six children and her mother in-law, Dorene Oster.
Two of Zimmerman-Oster’s daughters, Mary and Eleanor Oster, read their own poems in her honor, while her youngest daughter, Gladys, closed the event with the Phenomenal Woman poem.
Before the evening was over, Zimmerman-Oster passed out note cards to everyone that included blessings and gave SPB members homemade sugar cookies to show her thanks.
The event was sponsored by the Student Programming Board, Student Life and Sodexo.
