The women’s basketball season has had it share of ups and downs.
This year, we’ve reached milestones that we have always dreamed about, while also letting ourselves down.
One high point so far: Our team defeated Green Bay for the first time since the 2011-12 season. Green Bay has dominated the Horizon League for the past 17 years.
We also defeated Oakland in both meetings during the season, which hasn’t happened in years.
Followed closely by these two exciting victories, we were humbled by two losses from the bottom teams, UIC and Valparaiso, on the same weekend.
We are looking to bounce back and not allow the adversity to affect us for the remainder of the season.
With senior night on Monday, Feb. 20, against Wright State, the team prepared to give our all for the seniors who have dedicated themselves to the betterment of the program.
The seniors are preparing themselves for the bittersweet moment of playing their last game as Titans in Calihan Hall in front of family and friends.
With the regular season winding down, we are looking to make an impact in the Horizon League tournament.
Coach Bernard Scott has instilled confidence in us and encouraged us to believe in ourselves.
It’s about far more than simply competing or giving our best effort; it is all about putting the team first and preparing ourselves to win.
The women Titans have not won the Horizon League in nearly two decades and the time to change that is now.
Despite the hardships we face, like nagging injuries or personal issues that sometimes affect us on the court, it is time to put those aside and dig deep to achieve our ultimate goal.
Each person on the team plays a significant role in winning games and championships.
We must decide to fulfill these roles for the success of the team.
Luckily, the Horizon League championship is in our hometown.
We are excited to take on Motor City Madness.
