Club focuses on production of electronic music

On April 10, 2018

The Electronic Music Production Club is an organization that is trying to fill a need to add to the limited musical culture on campus.

The club is run by two students, James Coyle and Johnathan Zhu, who have been DJing and producing music for ten years combined.

Coyle, a senior computer science major, said that the overall goal of the group is to reach and connect with as many musical artists or music production talent as possible in the Detroit Mercy community.

With more than 5,000 students, there’s bound to be a few producers on campus, he said.

Zhu is a senior digital media studies major and a Varsity News photographer.

He said that despite targeting people who may already be making music, the club is open to everyone, including students who are completely new to producing.

Zhu said it helps him to learn more by teaching others what he has learned.

The EMP Club meetings every Thursday, 12:45-1:45 p.m., in Briggs 117 during the school year.

All are welcome.
