‘Jesuits, Mercy Sisters in the media’ talk next week

UDM's English Department will be hosting its first inaugural "Last Lecture" on Wednesday, Nov. 5, at 6 p.m.

Prof. Laurie Britt-Smith will be focusing on Mercy Sisters and Jesuits in the contemporary media.

In this version of the keynote address delivered at the 2014 Heartland/Delta Faculty Conversations Conference, Britt-Smith will examine images of Mercy Sisters and Jesuits in news, books and film with the objective of discovering the pop culture answer to the questions "What is a Sister of Mercy?" and "What if a Jesuit?"

Audience members will be asked to turn the mirror on themselves and consider how these representations affect expectations for those attending UDM and the implications for all who work here.

Light hors d'oeuvres will be served starting at 5:15 p.m.
