We all like chicken and we all like waffles, but what about both?

At Kuzzo’s Chicken and Waffles, you can get just that.

And it’s close to campus.

Owner Ron Bartell, a former Detroit Lions player, told Channel 7, “Detroit was missing that unique flare and so I wanted to bring that to the city.”

Kuzzo’s made its debut Jan. 27. It’s on Livernois between Seven and Eight mile roads.

With all homemade food items and a secret recipe, Kuzzo’s hopes to pull in UDM students, as well as local residents.

Students have seewn the storefront under construction for a while now and have been eager to get their feet through the door.

“I have been longing for a new type of restaurant close to campus that my friends and I can enjoy,” said Artona Millhouse, a third-year psychology major.

Many other students are interested in checking out the place.

Bartell said that his restaurant was people-inspired.

He said had goals of bring people together and adding to the neighborhood in a positive way.

Outside of chicken and waffles, Kuzzo’s also serves an array of other American dishes, from salads to sandwiches.

During its soft opening, the restaurant will have hours Tuesday through Sunday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
