Because this is my last column for the year, I decided to make it a little different.
This is going to be more of an advice column and I’m just going to advise you to do things a little differently this summer so you can really glow up.
Summer time is the perfect time for you to experiment and really find yourself. You’re not stressed by school and everything is more relaxed and free, so why not?
This advice is going to be more for my ladies, but, guys, you can keep reading if you like.
- Drink lots of water. You want your skin to be glowing this summer.
- Coconut oil for everything! Use it for thicker eyebrows, and help with menstrual cycles. Use it to shave your legs. It’s so beneficial in the glow up process.
- Wear sunscreen, okay? Anybody can get burnt. It doesn’t matter if you have melanin or not, wear it. No guy is going to want to talk to a girl whose skin is peeling before his eyes.
- For the summer, I suggest lip-gloss instead of lipstick. I know matte lipsticks are trending right now but I’m telling you when that sun hits, you want your lip gloss to be popping.
- If possible, try to stay away from make up as much as you can. Anybody who knows me, knows I love beating my face to the gods. But a beat face is not cute if when you step outside you’re literally melting. But if you can’t then just try to wear blush, bronzer and highlighter and if you don’t know what those are, girl, take yo butt to Ulta.
- It’s flip-flop season, ladies, and nobody wants to see the crusty feet you’ve been hiding all winter. Go get a pedicure and take your mom with you. She’ll appreciate the quality time.
- For my women of color, do not be scared to go outside thinking you’re going to get too dark. Love yourself, always.
- Be aware of summer flings. They might seem all fun and cute until September gets here and you find out he’s not even in school but instead works as a waiter at Red Robin and you’re pregnant. Go to Planned Parenthood; get you some free condoms and a check-up.
- For my ladies who like wearing weave extensions, don’t. It’s too hot
- Lastly, just have fun this summer. If you’re finally 21 like me, turn up and if not start your glow up and make it an epic one.
See y’all next year.
