I went out on a spur-of-the-moment date last weekend, and wanted to share some details with all of you. Not about the guy himself; for the purposes of this column, he isn’t important. But the lessons I learned with him, and some of my other dates, are. Friends have said that every guy I deal with is going to be a unique experience, and that even though they all want the same thing, no one guy is the same. The more I deal with men, the more I realize my friends are right. So here are 10 handy tips to help you not fall for the games they play.
-If he says he isn’t important, believe him. Don't think he's just joking, even if he says it in a joking manner. Guys know what they’re talking about, he’s not as stupid as you think he is.
-If you think there’s another girl in the picture and he says "don’t worry about her," that actually means you should worry about her. If a guy ever tells you that, don’t try to snoop around and investigate on your own. Simply ask him about her. You deserve an answer.
– Just because he says "I love you" doesn’t mean it’s true. You know when someone loves you by their actions, not their words.
-You can’t turn a dog into a man. This one is pretty self-explanatory. A man is going to do what he wants to do; as women we have to stop thinking we're going to be that special person to change him.
-You can't scold someone who doesn’t think they're wrong. Sometimes silence is better. It gives them a chance to think about what they've done.
-If a dude wants you, he'll make time for you – no matter the circumstances. I have to remind myself of this on a regular basis.
-There are good men out there. You just have to be patient and open-minded.
-Just because you love them and/or they love you does not mean you should be together.
-Any man who disrespects his mother will disrespect you. Why would you even want a man that disrespects the very reason he's here on this Earth?
-If he only wants you in private, leave him alone. Period. No questions asked. Any man who wants you — like really wants you — will want to take you out, show you a good time and show you off.
