Looking for something special to experience in the next two months? Check out these options:

Nov 21: Daughtry

If you’re a fan of the rock band Daughtry, they’ll be playing at Royal Oak Music Theatre. Daughtry has been around since 2006. For many of us at Detroit Mercy, their music has been in our lives since childhood.

Nov 24: 24kGoldn

24kGoldn rose to fame with his single “Valentino” in 2019. He again burst onto the scene with “Mood” in July 2020. He’ll be performing at El Club in Detroit.

Nov 25: Detroit Lions Thanksgiving game

The Detroit Lions might be the worst team in the NFL with a winless record, but their Thanksgiving matchup against the Chicago Bears might be the closest “winnable” game on their schedule. So it could be a chance to witness head coach Dan Campbell’s first career win. Also, if you are trying to avoid family during the holidays, your attendance might be the perfect excuse.

Nov 28: Giveon

Another artist who has recently risen to popularity will be playing at Majestic Theatre. Ever since his feature on Drake’s “Chicago Freestyle,” Giveon has been building his fanbase through his R&B music.

Dec 1: Seattle Kraken vs Red Wings

The NHL added an expansion team in Seattle and the Red Wings will get to play them for the first time on Dec. 1. The Wings rebuild is finally starting to show some life. This could be a fun game to attend.

Dec 3: Dan + Shay

If rap and R&B don’t align with your tastes in music, go see Dan + Shay at Little Caesars Arena. The country pop duo has been prominent in the music industry since 2018 scoring with such hits as “Tequila,” “All to Myself” and “10,000 Hours.”

Dec 6: Polo G

In 2019, Polo G struck with singles “Pop Out” and “Finer Things.” He’ll be in Detroit performing at the Fox Theatre.

Dec 11: Detroit Mercy men’s home opener

After a long stretch on the road, the Detroit Mercy men’s basketball team will need a breath of fresh air at Calihan Hall. Students get in for free so come support team during the home opener.

Dec 28: Houston Rockets vs. Pistons

Fans of the NBA will be closely monitoring the Pistons 2021 first overall draft selection, Cade Cunningham. However, Houston Rockets draft pick Jalen Green thinks he should have been drafted by the Pistons instead of Cunningham. He’ll have a chance to make his case against Detroit’s home crowd.
