REVIEW: ‘Power’ brings exciting fourth chapter

If you have not heard about the TV series Power Book IV: Force, I advise you immediately to purchase the STARZ app to stream this wonderful show. Power Book IV: Force, or simply Force is an American crime drama television series created by Robert Munic that premiered on Feb. 6 on Starz. The series is a sequel and third spin-off to Power created by Courtney A. Kemp.

The "Power" franchise was created by Courtney A. Kemp and produced by Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson. The original series, "Power," premiered in 2014 and ran for six seasons until 2020. It followed the story of James St. Patrick, also known as Ghost, a drug kingpin who attempts to leave the criminal world behind and go legit.

The “Power” universe expanded with a spin-off series, and three spin-offs had been released with all of them currently entering or either in the second season. One is Power Book II: Ghost. This spin-off picks up shortly after the events of the original "Power" series and follows James St. Patrick's son, Tariq St. Patrick, as he navigates the complexities of the drug game and academia.

Power Book III: Raising Kanan is a prequel to the original "Power" and explores the early years of the character Kanan Stark, portrayed by 50 Cent in the original series. Power Book IV: Force has now premiered for a new episode this past September. Force focuses on Ghost's right-hand man, Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora). Tommy was one of the most important characters in Power, but a minor one in Ghost. This is also a sequel, as Tommy is a big character in Power.

All four shows are connected but Power can be watched as a standalone series. However, watching the entire franchise in order of release or chronologically adds a lot to the experience.

Power Book IV: Force is about Tommy Egan who cuts all ties and puts New York in his rearview mirror for good when he arrives in Chicago and sets his sights on becoming the biggest drug dealer the Second City has ever seen. As said, the series second season was released in September so there have been numerous crimes, violence, romance, lives lost and territories taken. S lot have been going on.

There are plenty of actions scenes that’ll keep you on your toes and thinking about what’s next. Tommy is forever in search of mess. If there's drama, he'll find it or cause it. He has zero chill. Like every gangster from Scarface on down, he can size up a situation and is loyal in his own way, but at the end of the day he wants all the smoke.

This past November the season finale was released, and fans are already talking about Season 3. The last episode was a cliff hanger. Fans are ecstatic to hear about the upcoming plans and release dates.
